Missions Mobilization
Missions Mobilization is the process of developing and implementing a compelling missions strategy for your church that engages people in the Great Commission. Let’s be honest — it’s not always easy to know where to begin. We’re not here to do missions for you — we’re here to walk with you as you fulfill your calling to reach the nations.
A Three-Level Missions Strategy
Level 1 – General Mobilization
Develop World Christians
Level 2 – Specific Mobilization
Equip and Send
Level 3 – Field Mobilization
Strategically Place Workers
Missions Strategy Level One – General Mobilization
Developing World Christians
The goal of general mobilization is to see believers become global-minded Christians. World Christians are those who understand that Christianity is NOT essentially all about them but all about God and God’s purpose (2 Cor 5:18-20). Our Story finds its significance in His Story!
Ministries Designed to Produce World Christians
Church programs and courses designed for producing World Christians should be local church based and include children’s ministry, student ministry, and adults. These opportunities should be part of a standard discipleship program!
Critical Need for General Mobilization:
General Mobilization is by far the most important to any church’s missions strategy and to missions in general. We neglect it at our own peril. Without large numbers of World Christians, level two mobilization is nearly impossible. General Mobilization provides a tribe of global-minded people who are passionate about reaching the nations with the gospel.
Missions Strategy Level Two – Specific Mobilization
Specific Opportunities for Service
The goal of specific mobilization is to guide World Christians to discover opportunities to serve in missions in their local community and on short-term mission trips. This should include training on how to share the Gospel with atheists and people of other religious beliefs.
Pathways for Specific Missions Service:
Training pathways and preparation programs for specific missions service can be church based or mission agency based, assuming the church has already developed a missions partnership. In either approach, the training courses should be designed to primarily support the church’s missions vision.
Missions Strategy Level Three – Field Mobilization
Strategic Missions Placement:
The goal of field mobilization is to place trained people into strategic mission field situations with oversight and care provided by experienced mission field personnel. This placement can be focused on least-reached peoples for more experienced individuals or focused on growing Christ’s kingdom among reached peoples for those with less experience. Mission agency involvement is recommended.
